According to USA Today, “Five advanced cruise missiles were mistakenly loaded on a B-52 bomber that flew from a base in North Dakota to one in Louisiana. The missiles, set to be decommissioned, should have been removed from the plane. Instead they were mounted on the bomber’s wings.” [Emphasis added.] Now, there are lots of things about this that don’t make sense. How can you “mistakenly” mount nuclear cruise missiles on a bomber? Why were they on the plane if they were going to be decommissioned? And why were they flying from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota to Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana? It's claimed that the pilots didn’t know they were there. Do you understand what happened here? For more than 3 hours, we had B-52 bombers flying over the United States loaded with 5 advanced nuclear cruise missiles that each carry a W80-1 warhead with a yield of 5 to 150 kilotons. The Air Force said that at no time was there any danger to U.S. civilians. Are you kidding me? What if the pilots had started playing with their buttons?

Blogger Larry Johnson did some snooping and found that the only time you put weapons on a plane is when they are on alert or if you are tasked to move the weapons to a specific site. Why Barksdale Air Force Base? Johnson also found out that Barksdale is a “jumping off point for Middle East operations.” I don’t know what’s going on here, but clearly we need some answers. So far I haven’t seen a hint that anyone in Congress is asking any questions.
