The Democratic Caucus issued a "Then and Now" comparison of the U.S. under Clinton and under Bush. It's pretty dramatic. Among the most striking differences are the following.
Real GDP growth over the 8 years of Clinton's presidency was 4.09%. Over the past 7 years of Bush's presidency it has been 2.65%.
Clinton created an average of 1.76 million jobs per year. Bush has created 369,000.
Under Clinton approximately 38 million had no health insurance. Under Bush it's about 47 million.
The average cost of health insurance under Clinton was about $6,230 per family. Under Bush it's about $12,106.
The median household income has decreased from $49,163 under Clinton (up $6,000 from the prior 8 years) to $48,023 under Bush.
Gas has gone from $1.39 a gallon to $3.07 a gallon.
Under Clinton, the personal savings rate was up 2.3%. Under Bush it declined .5%.
Consumer debt under Clinton was $7.65 trillion. Under Bush it went to $12.8 trillion.
It's not hard to understand why average Americans are so fed up with this administration. Now, will they vote? If so, will they vote based on the issues or based on e-mails with fabricated "facts?" Will they pay attention, or just sit back and let the cable news channels tell them what to do? It'll be interesting.
